This mandala was the result of me getting a design / pattern stuck in my head and the need to put it on paper. Is was done on a 16″ x 20″ using Sakura gel pens.
After the design was put on paper, I thought the background was to plain. I colored it with watercolor ink using a sponge.
This drawing was done with Sakura Gel Pens on a 16″ x 20″ Carson Art Board.
This mandala was create on 16″ x 20″ Carson Black Art Board using Sakura Metallic pens. It did not come out exactly as I expected, but the lines did provide a basket effect.
This drawing was done on a 16″ x 20″ Carson Black Art Board using Sakura Moonlight pens. Once the center was done, the edge went in it own direction.
I decided to do some drawing on large drawing boards, 16″ x 20″ This drawing was done on Carson Black Art Board using Sakura Metallic Pens. I used a compass and ruler to draw the grid lines for the drawing, and than I created the pattern using only lines.
Here are a few of my more recent drawings. I think I have develop an addiction. I love filling in the drawings will just simple lines.
The Spiral Puzzle drawing below was a big puzzle trying to figure out where the spirals overlapped.

Half way through drawing the mandala below I noticed that I messed up the pattern. Instead of tossing it in the garbage and starting over, I came up with a solution.
I made it to Day 45 of the 100 Mandala Challenge. Kathryn Costa’s book “The Mandala Guidebook“ challenged the readers to create 100 Mandalas in 100 Days. I posted the first five, the next five, the next 10, the next 20, and now the next forty. Do you see a pattern?

I was reading Kathryn Costa’s book “The Mandala Guidebook“. It challenged the readers to create 100 Mandalas in 100 Days. My definition of mandalas, not the official definition, is: a design, usually round, that is symmetrical. I enjoy drawing mandalas, so challenge accepted. Below are the first five.
