Here are a few ice and snow pictures from 2023. Enjoy!
Over a week ago, it snowed 10.4 inches of snow. Even though we had to dig out some, after days of freezing fog it made the trees beautiful. Today, we have blue skies.
Here are a few pictures of Fall. Leaves are turning. Branches are becoming bare. There a cool, blistering breeze in the air. The kind that can blow you down and there is not enough clothing that you can put on the protect you from the cold wind.
Snow in November
Well that is a lot of snow for November, in Nebraska. I will not be going and swinging on the swing set today. Why? Because it will mess up the beautiful snow.
If you are already sick of the cold and ready for the Spring, go check out my flower blog, Up Close to Flowers.
Pictures of Fall
Just a couple days before the first freeze the temperature was in the 80s. When it snowed a couple of inches and the temperature dropped to 23 degrees over night, the trees goes “Yipes! We are suppose to be hibernating for the winter.” So, the leaves on the trees start turning colors and dropping to the ground quickly. Yes, Fall is here!
Solar Eclipse 2017
I do not take any direct pictures of the sun during the Solar Eclipse. There were plenty of professional people taking some great pictures. But, here are a few I took of the sky. I did take a 360 video during the event. You can view it on YouTube at 360 Eclipse Video.
Rescued Houses – Part One
In August 2016, the storage unit where I kept my belonging flooded. In those belonging was all my Christmas Village Plastercraft Houses. Many of the houses, painted and unpainted, was either wet or underwater for about a week. I was going to abandon them because I had no means of drying or cleaning them. My sister, who showed up to help me salvage what belonging I could, insisted that I could not abandon my houses.
She took all the wet houses to her flooded house, unwrapped, cleaned, and let the houses dry out while her house was drying out. After everything was dried, she carefully packed the house. In June, I was able to retrieve the unpainted houses from her. She did an amazing job. All three of these houses have minor damage, but no house is perfect. Of course, the inserts with suggested painting is gone, so I choose the colors myself.
These are the first three houses that she recovered that I have painted.
Don’s Donuts: I decided I would paint it the colors of the best donut shop, Krispy Kreme. The car had to be blue.
Bowling Alley: I thought this building needed to be bright and metallic.
Toy Maker: Deciding the colors were a little difficult. What colors would Santa have on his shop?
There will be more houses to come. I usually paint three at a time.
2017 Ice Event
Monday, I was stuck inside all day due to freezing rain. Tuesday, the weather man said it would be a good day to go out and take pictures, if you had a good camera. He was wrong about the camera. It was a good day to take pictures. However, I did have to dodge falling ice.
