Merry Christmas 2022

Merry Christmas from Sarah, or Sarahcath, as I use it a lot for my handle. Link: Merry Christmas 2022. For all the Tinkercad users; both past, present, and future; I created a Christmas 2022 scene with a tree, a train, and presents. Each present under the tree contain a gift. It is not just a pretty box. To open the gifts, you will need a Tinkercad account. Copy the design and ungroup the box from around the present. If the gift is too small, you are using Tinkercad, you can make the gift larger.

The tree came from my Instructable on Designing a Christmas Tree with Tinkercad. The train came from my 2016 Design We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The poinsettia I plucked off of last year Christmas Tree with Flowers. I created the Candy Cane, saved it as a shape, and uploaded into Tinkercad’s shape library. The big red, blue, and green ornaments are a work in progress.

I you would like to add a present to this tree. Either reach out to me and follow the directions in the design profile. Link: Merry Christmas 2022

Hand Painted Nativity

I was looking through my boxes, yes boxes, of crafts I had not finished for my next project, and I found the nativity set. I opened the top cover of the box, and everything looked yellow. Then I removed the plastic cover, and the pieces was still white and in great shape. The price tag on the box had the year of 2004. This set survived a flood and traveled over 1100 miles to it new home.

I painted each piece with acrylic paint, but I wanted the pieces to sparkle. After the paint dried, I applied pearl glaze over each piece. Usually, the pearl glaze is added to the painted, but using it like varnish, gave the pieces the shine I wanted. To seal the pieces, I sprayed each with polyacrylic varnish.

Christmas Antique Shop

I found some Christmas gift ideas at the antique shops.

A Christmas Tree everyone needs.

Toy refrigerator, stove, and sink for those budding cooks.

Jewelry hanger. Yeah, I think it had another purpose originally.

A piggy bank that weighs about 20 pounds without the coins.

A can for your baking needs.

Donald Duck pull toy.

Where’s the chips?

A button snowflake. They had at least 6. They must be popular.

Christmas Ornaments – Part 1

Around this time of the year, I work on something that has a Christmas theme.  This year I have painted some wooden Christmas ornaments.   Most of the ornaments were purchased from Michael’s Craft Stores in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana.

The bell ornaments were painted with multiple layers of red and green acrylic paint.

For all the ornaments, I selected the DecoArt Americana Acrylic paint because it is thicker then most paint and covers better.  I used Delta Creamcoat for the gold metallic paint.  Then I covered the ornaments with Delta Creamcoat Sparkle Glaze.  The ornament probably didn’t need to be varnished after the glaze, but I wanted a good high gloss finish, so I put several coats of Miniwax Polycrylic on them.  The Polycrylic has worked well on my polymer clay creations.

The snowflake ornaments, yes there are two of them, the base was painted  with sapphire and then dry brushed with white paint.  I left the edges unpainted because I thought it gave them an old fashioned look.

The angel ornaments were purchase at Hobby Lobby.

I selected yellow and green paint for the star ornaments.  Before I applied the glaze, the green areas was dry brushed with gold paint.

The tree and bell ornaments were painted using the same process as described above.

The angel ornaments were purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I should have taken time to sand these ornament, because there are a few rough places on them.

This post is Part 1 because there are more ornaments that are unfinished.
