Here are a few of my more recent drawings. I think I have develop an addiction. I love filling in the drawings will just simple lines.
The Spiral Puzzle drawing below was a big puzzle trying to figure out where the spirals overlapped.
Another drawing celebrating the month of Love.
Spiral of Love
Half way through drawing the mandala below I noticed that I messed up the pattern. Instead of tossing it in the garbage and starting over, I came up with a solution.
I created the mandala below for the month of February. What happens is February, beside National Pizza Day, Ferris Wheel Day, Chinese New Year (wait, I could have easy created a mandala for these days)? It is the month that Valentine’s Day is observed.
A PDF of this mandala is available on my coloring page, for anyone to download.
It was created and colored in CorelDraw.
Here is my latest drawing on four tiles. Almost from the very from the first curve that went down on the paper, I was saying to myself “Nope! I don’t like that.” I few more curves and a little color, still “I don’t like that.” But, I decided instead of trashing the tiles I would complete the drawing and put the tiles away to never to be seen again.
Somewhere towards the end, either when the green leaves were being drawn or the blue background was being added, my opinion of the drawing changed to “Okay, now that really look cool.”
This painting was done on a 5″x5″ canvas. It started out as a pour painting, but the blue paint took over the painting. After it dried, for about a week, put a mandala on top of the fluid painting using metallic acrylic paint.
Today’s line drawing is made up of hearts.
The Art of Concentration rules are:
- Draw lines on a page. Straight line, squiggly lines, circles, squares, triangles, stars, it does not matter.
- Color every other section a different color. Start anywhere. Use any color. Typical you will only have a black pen, or a pencil, those are fine.
- If you desire, use multiple colors. Sections of the same color can not touch.

Created on Studio Series Artist Tiles with Faber Caster Pitt Pens and Prismacolor Pencils.
Note to self: A lot of small detail takes a long time to color.
